Magnesium Bath Salt
Magnesium bath flakes, or bath salts, are a form of transdermal magnesium, a method of mineral supplementation designed to deliver magnesium through the skin for rapid absorption into the cells.
Chronic disease is on the rise in industrialized nations, and dietary magnesium levels are at an all time low. Making a connection rooted in previous decades of study, scientists have begun to explore magnesium as a possible “missing link” behind several of today’s most troubling illnesses.
Magnesium’s potent healing activities are a part of a diverse history of traditional medicine around the world, and today’s leading nutrition experts consider magnesium supplementation essential. Magnesium’s crucial role in over 300 fundamental biochemical reactions leads to a profound ability to influence nearly all of the body’s systems, an impact that is only now beginning to be fully understood.
The skin is the human body’s largest organ — a living, breathing efficient organ of absorption and detoxification. And among minerals, magnesium is the most life giving available, a central element to the vital and microscopic processes of energy manufacture, balance and regulation.
Magnesium is important for both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails. Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles. Sodium is important for the lymphatic fluid balance (this in turn is important for immune system function). So we can see that bathing in high quality sea salt could replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism.
To use:
Pour into running water and swish to dissolve, then sit back and relax :)
Avoid letting water into the jar, as it will shorten the life span of your salt.
Bathing Tips:
Use caution when entering/exiting the tub as surfaces may become slippery.
When bathing to relax or hydrate skin, always use lukewarm/room temperature water.
Use hot water when doing a detox bath- hotter water will help you sweat out the toxins.
